Spothinta is a free web application that displays real-time electricity spot prices in Finland. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle data.

2. Data We Collect

We collect minimal data necessary to provide our service:

Necessary Data (stored locally in your browser)

• Language preference
• Theme preference (light/dark mode)
• Price alert settings (notification thresholds)

Optional Analytics (only if you enable them)

When you opt-in to analytics in Settings, we collect:

• Anonymous page views (which pages you visit)
• Performance metrics (page load times)
• Basic device info (browser type, screen size)

3. Legal Basis for Processing

• Necessary cookies: Legitimate interest - required for the app to function properly
• Analytics: Consent - only collected if you explicitly enable them in Settings

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Vercel: Hosting and analytics (if enabled). Vercel may process data in the US under appropriate safeguards.
• sahkotin.fi: Electricity price data API. No personal data is sent to this service.
• Open-Meteo: Weather data API. If you share your location, approximate coordinates (rounded to ~1km) are sent to fetch local weather. Coordinates are not stored on our servers.

5. Data Retention

• Cookies: 1 year maximum
• Local storage: Until you clear browser data or use 'Clear all local data' in Settings
• Analytics data (if enabled): Retained by Vercel according to their privacy policy

6. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the following rights:

• Right to access your data
• Right to rectification (correct inaccurate data)
• Right to erasure (delete your data)
• Right to data portability (export your data)
• Right to withdraw consent for analytics at any time

You can exercise these rights through the Settings page: export your data, clear all local data, or disable analytics. For additional requests, contact us.
